The Maine State Legislature must immediately enact emergency legislation to establish a "Domestic Partnership Contract" statute that "when signed, witnessed by an attorney or a Notary Public and filed as a public record will afford the participants the same rights, privileges, benefits, and protections granted to legally married Maine couples."

I know this will not satisfy all of the pro gay-marriage people, but, it will extinguish all of the legal problems they face, and, I believe such an act would be supported by the vast majority of Maine voters.
