On the www.now.org site, they tout that they are supporting feminist candidates. Could it be the same reason why it didn't matter that President Bush had more African Americans on his cabinet and more minorities than any other president in history, but it didn't count? How many times have they said that women would never crash through the glass ceiling?
Palin is a conservative Republican, therefore, the feminist movement cannot and will not recognize her contributions to this ticket or even wish her well. The world was ready for a Democratic woman president, the media said, but not so when it comes to a Republican vice president.
The center of this issue could be Roe v. Wade. Feminists are afraid it will be overturned. Even if it were, abortion rights as we know them today, would not go away. It would be a state issue, not a federal issue.
Doors have been opened for women. Not only by Sarah Palin, but by Geraldine Ferraro, Hillary Clinton, Meg Whitman, Mary Kay Ash, Andrea Jung, Cathleen Black, Anne Mulcahy, Brenda Barnes. Besides the women in politics, these women are CEOs of major companies.
