Where's the fairness in tax stimulus payments?

Does it make sense to give those making "well above" the poverty income level $600 for a single person and $1,200 for a married couple? The only fair part is $300 for each child for both parties. Of course I'm talking about the "stimulus package."

But if you're retired and living on less than the poverty level, don't file income taxes and can't prove you earned $3,000 or more not counting your Social Security income, then you're not eligible?

This is another mismanagement by the Republican administration. Ever notice those opposed to the "stimulus package" are those who don't need it?

I talk to many elderly I know in Maine who are living below the poverty level, struggling to eat and heat their homes and survive without losing their rentals or homes and don't file for the homeowners and renters' circuit breaker program.

It's not just the Republicans in Washington but the Democrats in Maine who don't seem to grasp the dilemma of what the poor and working poor are going through. Why should they care. They're well provided for, after and during their tenures!
