But they haven't gone nearly far enough. There are other fundamental tenets of science that are equally "theoretical" and should therefore be cut from the curriculum.
Take gravity: Though there is considerable evidence that the force of gravity exists, no one has even a clue as to how it actually works. No, gravity -- in the absence of a known operating mechanism -- is merely a matter of profound faith. Ban it.
Ditto for magnetism. Every elementary schoolchild is taught about magnets in science class, yet we haven't the faintest idea how they really work. Sure, teachers explain about a "magnetic field," and draw schematic diagrams, but finally it's all just a matter of belief, isn't it?
Quantum Theory? Come on. Does anyone really know why those orbiting electrons -- whatever they actually are -- don't just fly off into space like so many BBs?
Or the Theory of Relativity? I challenge you to show me how you can bend space. It's time to dump all this pseudo-scientific bunk and get back to basics. Like ... well I'm sure there's something you can still teach as Science, like those cardboard models of the Solar System.
And think of the money you could save in the school budget.
