Forced union dues, anti-gay ads rankle

There are two things in the news lately that cause me no end of trouble: (1) forcing all state employees to pay union dues whether they are members or not, and (2) finding a full-page advertisement in the morning paper that promotes segregation and insinuates a superrace of people.

These two things are so reminiscent of Hitler's Germany in the 1930s. All of the trappings are there. Any people who fail to learn from history are surely destined to repeat it.

There is one other point that I'd like to make while I have the gavel. Homosexuality is not a choice; it is a life sentence with no hope of parole -- ever. Please don't do anything that would make their lives more difficult.
