Wrong to force people to pay fee to MSEA

How can this happen in a free country? The governor and the Maine State Employees Association are forcing all state employees as a condition of their employment to pay a service fee to the MSEA. Since when can the government tell you where to spend your money, other than taxes or whom you are to financially support?

As a citizen and state employee, I can not believe that the governor and MSEA think that they can get away with this. Isn't this the type of control and dictatorship that the unions were first created to stop?

I ask that anyone who supports eliminating this un-"fair share" part of the MSEA contract with the state to call, write, e-mail anything to their legislators, papers, TV stations and just talk about this to get the word out. There are two bills in the Congress right now that would make this practice illegal. The U.S. House bill is HR 500; the U.S. Senate bill is S 370. Call, write and e-mail your congressmen/women to support these bills to stop this infringement on our freedom.

We have established an e-mail address to help organize our efforts in trying to get this un-"fair share" part of the contract eliminated. Contact noforcedunionfairshare@msn.com with any ideas, questions or comments that you may have on what seems to be unlawful flexing of political power. You can also just add your name to our list of Maine people who do not support this service fee in the MSEA contract with the state by e-mailing the address above.
