That includes one reader who says he'd like to put up a sign saying, "Do Not Brake For Moose, Their Meat Fills My Freezer."
That's not nice, nor is it sporting.
It is, however, that time of the year, when moose move out of the woods looking to get a lick of the salt deposits left along roads from winter. Those roadside edges are also among the first places where moose can find tender, green shoots to munch on.
While it's kind of cool to see a moose (big, lumbering, ungainly proportions, weird design, funky expressions), it's not a good idea to see them up close and personal. Especially from the inside of your car.
So now that you know the moose are going to be sharing your road space, pay attention, especially in the nighttime, when the majority of moose-vehicle encounters happen.
And get your moose meat from a friend who hunts.
