Erica Luce led the Roadrunners charge skiing to a first-place finish in the giant slalom, then turned in a seventh-place performance in the 5k freestyle race to win the girls Skimeister title for the third straight year.
"I am really excited because our team did so well," Luce said. "After winning the giant slalom, I just wanted to go like crazy in the freestyle race."
Although Luce finished seventh in the Nordic race she did not score for Mt. Abram because four other Roadrunners finished ahead of her.
Emma James won her second MVC Nordic title this season finishing with a winning time of 15 minutes, 33.8 seconds.
Brianne Bailey of Telstar was the only skier able to break up Mt. Abram's attempt at recording a perfect score. Mt. Abram claimed the next three spots with Georgia Dixon, Nola Dixon and Emma Twitchell, finishing third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
James hit her wax to near perfection and, after a battle on the uphill portion of the course, turned it on straight to the finish line. James' time was almost seven seconds faster then Bailey.
"I felt really good the whole time I was out on the course," James said. "This gives us a major confidence boost heading into the state meet next week."
On the giant slalom course, the Roadrunners were nearly as dominant taking the first three places lead by Luce (1:11.86), Noelle Lake (1:12.76) and Emily Luce (Erica's younger sister finished in 1:12.94) and a ninth place by Jillian Withee (1:18.32).
"It was a really great day for the girls," Mt. Abram Alpine coach Bob Luce said. "Now we have to keep the momentum going into the state meet."
Mt. Abram racked up just 60 team points in the four events (giant slalom, slalom, freestyle and classical) in winning the overall girls title. Telstar was a distant second with 162 points.
Mt. Abram will compete in the Class B state meet Wednesday through Saturday, with Alpine events held at Sunday River in Bethel and Nordic competition at Black Mountain.
In preparation for Monday's Nordic freestyle state championship meet, the Ramblers were careful in their approach to Friday's MVC race. Regardless of their tactics, the Ramblers claimed four of the top six spots to win the overall Nordic championship with an extremely low combined score of just 23 points.
"We had it in our mind that we were going to use today as a training race," said Winthrop's Dan Soltan, who won the event. "It really feels good to come in first as a team and to be ready for states, also."
Soltan cruised the course in 12:55.8 to give earn a sweep of the Nordic competition. Justin Carpenter (12:23.2) was second, Alex Cottrell (13:25.4) third and Patrick Romar (14:10.6) sixth for the Ramblers.
Winthrop will compete in the state Class C competition, which runs Monday through Wednesday, with Alpine races at Sunday River and Nordic events at Black Mountain.
Mountain Valley High School won the boys overall title 134-194 over second place Mt. Abram. Jay's Max Couture won the boys Skimeister title, 39-62, over Mt. Valley's Carl Zurhorst.
