GARDINER -- Midfielders Becca Paradee and Katie Schide teamed up on what proved to be the game-winning play with 2 minutes, 54 seconds to play as Gardiner defeated Bangor 2-1 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A field hockey game Saturday.

After Bangor's Ashley Higgins tied the score at 1 with 4:22 to play, Schide assisted on Paradee's goal to put Gardiner (6-0-0) back on top. Hailey Chadbourne scored the Tigers' other goal on a penalty stroke.

The Tigers dominated shots on goal (14-1) and penalty corners (11-0).

Hilary Babin made 12 saves for Bangor (3-2-0).

Messalonskee 4, Mt. Ararat 1: Messalonskee scored two goals in the first four minutes of the game, then scored two more goals in the first eight minutes of the second half to beat Mt. Ararat in a KVAC A game in Oakland.

Bri Warren and Hannah Thornberg both scored two goals for Messalonskee (6-0-0), while Katie Bernatchez had two assists and Mackenzie Labbe had one. Mickee McCafferty had six saves to earn the win. Audrey Petteruti scored from Megan Carr for Mt. Ararat (0-4-1).

Cony 4, Brunswick 1: Kristen Felt's goal with 22 minutes to play put the Rams up for good in their KVAC A home victory.

Chelsea Begin, who assisted on the go-ahead goal, also scored a goal, along with Emily Carr and Stephanie Hinds. Kayla Belanger, Nicole Kirschner and Heather Leet all had assists for Cony (6-1-0).

Felisha Taylor made four stops in the win. Heather Durkee matched that total for Brunswick (3-4-0).

Oak Hill 3, Lincoln 1: Ashley Paradise had two goals, both times with an assist from Kayla Clark, as the Raiders beat the Eagles in a KVAC B game in Newcastle.

Becca Tucci also scored for Oak Hill (3-4-0). Sarah Lacroiux made five saves to earn the win.

Ari Clifford had 25 saves for Lincoln Academy (0-5-0). Catrina Cummings scored the Eagles lone goal.

Holderness 8, Kents Hill 0: Amy Hilton made 36 saves as the Huskies fell to 0-2-0 on the season.

Boys soccer

Monmouth 4, Carrabec 3: Robbie Neal scored two goals to lead the Mustangs to the MVC win in North Anson.

The host Cobras led 2-1 at halftime, thanks to goals from Jordan Fortin and Spencer Shaw. But the Mustangs reeled off three straight goals in the second half, from Neal, Noah Bosworth and Corey Dyke, to take a 4-2 lead. Morgan Taylor tacked on a late goal for Carrabec.

Kenny Wood made nine saves for Carranec (0-5) whie Seth Musich stopped 14 shots for Monmouth (3-2).

Girls soccer

Winthrop 5, Dirigo 2: Lindsey Gordon had three goals and an assist as the Ramblers beat the Cougars in a Mountain Valley Conference game in Dixfield.

Maura Moody and Erin Rich each added a goal for Winthrop, which improves to 4-1-1. Katherine Fortin and Elaine Theriault each chipped in with an assist. Anna Smithgall had 13 saves for the Ramblers.

Kristen Harvey and Jasmine Brooks scored for Dirigo (2-4-0). Lanette Bryant stopped 12 shots.

Carrabec 6, Monmouth 1: Six different players scored as the Cobras beat the Mustangs in a MVC game in North Anson.

Melissa White, Katie Kniffin, Randi Kaplin, Kara Hebert, Megan Murray and Becca Bergeron all scored for Carrabec (3-3-0).

Mackenzie Weese earned the win with one save.

Suzi Chick scored from Emily Benoit for Monmouth (0-5-0). Kelsie Hilton stopped three shots for the Mustangs.

Erskine 1, MCI 1: The Eagles scored a second-half goal and stopped the Huskies from earning their first victory of the seasonin a KVAC Class B game in Pittsfield.

Natasha Wallace scored for MCI, who is now 0-3-2. Alana Oliver made eight saves.

Michelle Beckwith had the goal for Erskine (2-2-1). Crystal Morin stopped four shots.

Hall-Dale 1, Jay/Livermore 1, 2OTs: Carlyanne Wolfington scored an unassisted goal in the first half and the Bulldogs held on for a tie in MVC action in Jay.

Beth Moore scored 10 minutes after Wolfington to tie the game for Jay/Livermore (1-2-2).

Anna Levesque had 14 saves for Hall-Dale (3-2-1), while Katie Bealieu and Alanah White combined for 20 saves.
