AUGUSTA — Pitchers Jasmin Trott and Mika Wilson combined on a two-hitter as the Cony softball team blanked Mt Ararat 3-0 in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A play Thursday.
Amy Jones hit an RBI triple in the bottom of the fourth inning, then scored on Maegan Cloutier’s fielder’s choice. Jones also scored in the sixth inning, on Kayla Belanger’s single.
Trott got the victory for Cony (12-3), throwing four innings.
Mt. Ararat (5-9) batters struck out 10 times and walked once.
Madison 13, Winthrop 5: Brittney Lichtenfels allowed three earned runs, struck out five and added two singles at the plate as the Bulldogs won in Mountain Valley Conference play at home.
Lichtenfels, Amanda Costa and Bianca Stoutamyer all drove in a run during a seven-run second inning for Madison (6-6), which also got a two-run single from Kristen Erickson in the sixth.
Emily Ellis St. Laurent had a single, double and two RBIs for Winthrop (2-10).
Bangor 10, Messalonskee 3: The Rams scored six times in the second inning and four runs in the fourth to take the KVAC win in Bangor.
Kim Jordan and Amy Hackett each had three hits for Bangor (13-1). Starting pitcher Amy Wadleigh pitched no-hit ball over four innings for the win. Juliana Fekete doubled and tripled for Messalonskee (7-8), which ends its season Tuesday at Morse.
Baseball
Mt. Ararat 6, Cony 1: Scott Rogers hit a three-run home run during the fourth inning as the Rams lost in KVAC A play in Augusta.
The home run marked the fifth for Rogers this season. It helped Anthony Farrell get the victory for Mt. Ararat (9-6), which scored one run in each of the last three innings.
Matt Randall added three hits in the win.
Charlie Partridge hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning to score the lone run for Cony (11-4).
Girls lacrosse
Cony 9, Mountain Valley 7: Cassie Diplock and Jessica Lucas both scored two goals first-half goals as the Rams raced to a 5-0 lead, then hung on to win in KVAC play.
Diplock finished with three goals. Lucas and Natashia Merrill both scored two for Cony (6-5), which got 20 saves from goalie Julia Bush. Holly Parker and Macy Pagurko also scored goals for the Rams.
Mountain Valley (1-9) scored three goals with less than a minute before halftime to make it 5-3, but the Falcons’ flurry against Bush at the finish came up short.
