ORONO -- University of Maine football coach Jack Cosgrove was back at work Sunday after undergoing tests for shortness of breath and chest pains he suffered Saturday afternoon during Maine's 41-17 victory over Rhode Island at Alfond Stadium. Cosgrove left in the third quarter for Eastern Maine Medical Center. He underwent a series of tests overnight and was released Sunday.
Cosgrove is in his 17th season as head coach at Maine. He has coached in more games than any other head coach in program history (183), has taken part in over 300 games in program history as either a player or coach (assistant and head), and is the leader in program history for career wins with 88.
A 1978 graduate of Maine, Cosgrove was a two-time second-team All-Yankee Conference quarterback and an ECAC All-Star for the Black Bears.
He still ranks as the eighth all-time leading passer in Maine football history with 2,836 career yards.
