Veterans and current members of the U.S. Army, Maine Army National Guard, U.S. Army Reserve and other military branches will march 21 miles from Augusta to Winslow on Wednesday in observance of Veterans Day.
The march begins at 6 a.m. in Augusta's Capitol Park.
Marchers will travel north on State Street, cross Memorial Bridge and navigate north to Winslow on U.S. Route 201. The procession ends at Veterans Memorial Park on Roderick Road in Winslow.
At each mile, marchers will see a photograph of a veteran.
Those who want to march distances shorter than 21 miles can join the march at the beginning of any of the march's four legs.
A barbecue and memorial service will follow the march.
Contact Kennebec County Sheriff Randall Liberty for more information. He can be reached by e-mail at randall.liberty@us.army.mil or by phone at 623-3591, ext. 240.
