Rep. Nancy Smith, D-Monmouth, will speak at a Husson University symposium Thursday that focuses on animal rights, according to the House Majority Office.

Smith will participate in a panel called "Animal Rights and Animal Wrongs: Religious, Ethical and Economic Perspectives on the Humane Treatment of Other Animals."

Smith is a dairy farmer and member of the Legislature's Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee.
