Shawn attended Gardiner Area High School in Maine before moving to Vermont in 1986. He was a graduate of Essex Educational Center. He also attended the University of Maine at Orono.
He was currently the chief engineer at Stowe Mountain Lodge.
Shawn was a skilled craftsman with amazing attention to detail and a commitment to perfection. Part of Shawn's legacy is the craftsmanship in the many fine homes he remodeled and perhaps more importantly, the legion of friendships created over the years. Shawn was a very gentle soul who saw the best in everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Tallman Gray; parents David W. and M. Pauline Gray of Essex; sister, Michelle Gray and her significant other, Al Lesage, of Burlington; stepchildren Shawn and Brooke Hill, and Stephanie Sheltra and her boyfriend, Jordan Bourgeois; a grandson, Tanner Bourgeois; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Debbie Tallman of Hyde Park; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don Tallman and wife, Michelle, all of Hyde Park; nephews Lucas and Ryan Tallman and dearest friends Reggie and Linda Copper and their children, Lucy and Sam, formerly of Stowe; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his dogs, J.J. and Jackson. Shawn was predeceased by his grandparents, Myrtle Dorr, and Alex and Blanche Roy.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Stowe. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at White-Fiess Funeral Home, 165 Brooklyn St., Morrisville.
