Maranacook-area schools Superintendent Rich Abramson informed parents of the incident in a notice sent Friday. The student, who has not been identified, brought the weapon to the school Tuesday.
"The weapon was not brandished about," Abramson wrote in the notice. "The Maine State Police responded immediately and no one was in immediate danger."
Abramson said the student was removed from the building. The school committee plans to review the matter. Further details were unavailable Friday.
