"The First Annual Night Out," an outreach program of Healthy Communities of the Capital Area, will happen Nov. 6 at Capital Area Technical Center, Pierce Drive, Augusta.
The free event is also open to grandparents and guardians. It starts at 5 p.m., includes dinner, and concludes at 7:30 p.m.
Topics include "Staying Safe on the Internet" with Seth Blodgett of the state attorney general's office; "Helping Teens stay Alcohol- and Drug-free" by Brandin Turner of the Maine Parent Federation; "Teen Sexuality" with Tara Faiola of the Maine Family Planning Association; "Keeping Lines of Communication Open with your Teen" with Ruth Lessard of the Kennebec Valley Community Action Plan; and a talk on raising your teen with the help and guidance of your faith and your church.
Beverly Daggett, a former state senator from Augusta who is gathering sponsors to underwrite the event, said humorist Gary Crocker will perform.
The event offers child care, and dinner prepared by Capital Area Technical Center culinary-arts students.
To register, call Karen Tucker, Healthy Communities of the Capital Area at 588-5012, or go to www.healthycommuni tiesme.org
The Nov. 6 event is cosponsored by Augusta Rotary, Maine Parent Federation, Maine Family Planning Association, Kennebec Valley Community Action Program Family Enrichment Council and the Augusta Boys & Girls Club for Teens.
Healthy Communities of the Capital Area works to improve quality of life in the area, its Web site says.
