According to police, the preliminary investigation indicated that Loren St. Cyr, of Jefferson, was lying in the roadway when a minivan driven by James McKenna, 38, of Jefferson, was unable to avoid Cyr and struck him.
The accident occurred at 11:58 p.m. St. Cyr was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff Todd Brackett said his department is continuing with the investigation. He said it would take a few days to get the toxicology report.
Assisting the sheriff's department were Jefferson Fire Department and Rescue and the Maine State Police accident reconstruction team.
