Jason W. Jewett, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene after being thrown from his motorcycle when it struck a vehicle that had turned into Jewett's path, Lincoln County Sheriff officials said in a prepared news release.
Jewett was not wearing a helmet.
The crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. as Jewett was driving his 2003 Harley Davidson north.
A car driven by Benjamin P. Arsenault, 26, of Jefferson was traveling south in the opposite lane.
Arsenault slowed to make a left turn into a drive in order to make a U-turn and turned into the path of the oncoming Jewett, police said.
Jewett was unable to stop and struck the passenger side of Arsenault's 1992 Pontiac Sunbird.
Members of the Lincoln County Sheriff's department were joined at the scene by Maine State Police, fire departments from Jefferson and Whitefield and Delta Ambulance Service.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
