The Greater Augusta Utility District is putting in a new sanitary sewer and water lines and a new storm drain line primarily between Dickman Street and the west side of State Street.
Harold Wood, manager of engineering and systems operation for the utility district, said that, once the work is complete, the city will come in and rebuild the road from Dickman to State streets.
Longchamps & Son of Lisbon is doing the work for the utility district, under a contract for almost $320,000, Wood said.
The road closing is expected to extend through until mid-October.
Fayette boardsto met Monday
FAYETTE -- Two different Fayette boards are scheduled to meet on Monday night.
Mark Robinson, town manager, said the Fayette Planning Board will hear four different applications during its meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Fayette Central School:
* an after-the-fact timber harvesting permit on land bordering a tributary to Hales Pond,
* a mobile home replacement in the shoreland zone around David Pond,
* a garage roof addition and an addition to an existing septic system in a shoreland zone on Echo Lake,
* and a new single-family home on Tilton pond.
At 7 p.m. Monday at Starling Hall, the Board of Selectmen are scheduled to hold a workshop to deal with the traffic calming devices -- speed bumps -- on Echo Lake Road.
