Rep. Patrick Flood, R-Winthrop, has announced his intention to seek re-election to District 82, Winthrop and Readfield.
Flood, a two-term incumbent, currently serves on the Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs. In his first term, he had served on the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee and on two legislative Joint Select Committees.
He also serves on eight regional or local boards of directors and has received legislative leadership awards from the Autism Society of Maine, Maine League of Conservation Voters, and Maine Wastewater Association.
He has sponsored nine bills to passage in the subject areas of forestry, conservation, business, tax policy, and education and has been an advocate for successful bond bills for research, land conservation, and water management. He is a retired business manager and lives in Winthrop with his wife, Marjorie.
Rep. Peter Rines
Rep. Peter Rines, D-Wiscasset, recently announced his candidacy for Senate District 20, which includes Windsor, Friendship, Washington, Jefferson, Somerville, Whitefield and several other towns in Lincoln County.
Over the past eight years, Rines has served on the Legislature's Utilities and Energy Committee.
Rines worked to amend a bill to lower the surcharge for 911 service and passed a bill requiring that all cigarettes in Maine be fire safe. He also sponsored legislation to remove MTBE from gasoline, and worked to restore funds to the state Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability.
In 2007, Rines was appointed to the National Conference of State Legislatures' Communications, Financial and Interstate Commerce Committee.
