AUGUSTA -- An early-morning get-together involving minors and alcohol landed one teenager in police custody and two others with charges Monday after a brief scuffle with officers.

When officers responded to a domestic-disturbance report on Mount Vernon Avenue on Monday at 2:26 a.m., Augusta police Sgt. Chris Massey said they found three teenagers who had allegedly been drinking and were disorderly.

A 14-year-old girl allegedly pushed an officer, Massey said. She was summonsed and later released on charges of assault on an officer and consuming liquor as a minor.

Justin Curtis, 18, of Augusta was taken into police custody on charges of assault, criminal threatening, violating a condition of release and consuming alcohol as a minor, according to police reports.

Eric Ryan, 19, of Augusta was summonsed on a charge of consuming alcohol as a minor, Massey said.

Pittston teenarrested after chase

AUGUSTA -- Police took an East Pittston man into custody Monday afternoon after a brief vehicle chase, Augusta police Sgt. Chris Massey said.

Steven Lathrop, 18, allegedly refused to pull over for an officer on Western Avenue Monday afternoon. He led the officer down a side street, around an apartment building and back onto Western Avenue, Massey said.

Lathrop pulled aside soon after returning to Western Avenue after leading the officer astray for less than a mile, Massey said.

He was arrested on a charge of violating a condition of release and summonsed on charges of failing to stop for an officer, driving to endanger and possessing alcohol as a minor.
