From staff reports

A China man and the general manager and the cook at a Waterville restaurant were arrested early Friday in a drug raid at a Waterville home, according to police.

Nicholas Mansfield, 24, of Waterville, who opened Wise Guys Restaurant & Lounge in the former Aubuchon Hardware on Water Street last October, is charged with possession of marijuana and violating the conditions of his release on a previous charge. He was arrested in December on charges of criminal trespass and terrorizing.

Waterville Deputy Police Chief Charles Rumsey said Wise Guys' kitchen manager Jesse Thompson, 23, was charged with unlawful possession of the prescription drug Suboxone, a drug used to treat opiate addiction.

Arrested with the men was Jacob Olivares, 26, of China.

Olivares is charged with felony trafficking in drugs for allegedly being in possession of 198 tablets of the prescription narcotic oxycodone. Each tablet seized was 40 milligrams in strength, worth $40 apiece on the street.

Both Mansfield and Thompson live at 95 Drummond Avenue where the arrests took place early Friday, according to Police Chief Joseph Massey.

Police seized $13,000 in cash.

Olivares faces up to 10 years in prison on the felony trafficking charges.

Olivares, on probation for aggravated assault, is being held without bail at the Kennebec County jail in Augusta. All three men have court dates in March.

Hey, What-A-Mess, it wasn't the Mary Jane that prompted my comment. Read on:

"Olivares is charged with felony trafficking in drugs for allegedly being in possession of 198 tablets of the prescription narcotic oxycodone. Each tablet seized was 40 milligrams in strength, worth $40 apiece on the street."

A druggie is a druggie. If you want to get baked on dope in the privacy of your own home, go for it. It will take the edge off the nerves.

Other stuff, like the trafficking in prescription meds, concerns me.

Guess my previous comments about public punishment of drug scum struck a nerve with the pro-dopers, eh?report abuse
