I think letting our troopers, sheriffs, rangers, wardens and other peace officers take their vehicles home pays for itself in faster response times and in the crime deterrent factor in the communities where they live. Other than that no DOT employee needs a vehicle to commute with and their is a lot of that going on, but I doubt that that is isolated to the DOT as the state has Central Fleet and Fleet Services which they "rent" cars from that employees use. For example Human Resources (under Alicia Kellog the DOT succubus) has routinely "rented" vehicles so employees she attached to the DOT and who were assigned to HR tasks in areas like Bangor, Portland and the County (but who lived in the Augusta area) did't have to use their own cars to travel or commute with. This administration is like a cast out of Deliverence.report abuse
