I don't know how Kansas handles the initiative process, but in Maine it is our elected officials responsibility to either vote up or down on any citizen initiative. Up votes relieve us of the need for a general or special election vote. A down vote in the legislature simply enables the petitioners to have their days with the electorate.

Our legislators fulfilled their responsibility. Now it's our turn.report abuse

"Its likely failure in the Legislature means legislators would have effectively opted to send the decision to voters in November".....so why do we need 151 House members if all they do is put off the tough decisions to a citizens' initiative?report abuse
