A correction I thought I'd point out - Maine high schools do not have "duel meets," as this article suggests. That happens in other states, but not here.

Another funny irony about this article is that apart from Waterville, the Waterville Relays didn't feature any state powers. Lewiston is okay, but in reality, Winthrop didn't really get a taste of "what's out there." Edward Little opted for the Scarborough/Westbrook Relays, Brunswick didn't go, Mt. Ararat went to Loucks, and Bangor/Brewer/Hampden/MDI don't go to Waterville. If only Winthrop went to another Relay meet or was in a bigger conference...they might drop dead of shock if Waterville Relays left them intimidated.report abuse
