My town meeting draws barely 125 people out of 3500-3800 residents. TABOR will take the decision making power out of the hands of these chosen few and into the hands of everyone else who does not attend town meeting. What could be more democratic than that? Not everyone wants to give up a spring saturday and some even feel too intimidated to speak out at town meeting. I've been told that first-hand.
We now have too chances for tax relief this November: www.TaborNow.com and www.MoreGreenNow.com. If you're as fed up as I am, sign up for updates and make an online donation. The Maine Municipal Association is going to use our own tax dollars against us, to defeat both initiatives. It's no wonder Jeff Herman was the first to show up at both hearings, and the last to go.
TABOR is not about cuts, don't fall for the lies. Read the legislature for yourself. No one will lose his/her job because of TABOR. What TABOR does is allow us, the taxpayers, to choose whether or not any increase above roughly 3.5% is warranted. It takes that power out of the hands of politicians and bureaucrats, which is why they hate TABOR. In my opinion TABOR is more than generous. When was the last time you got a 3.5% raise?report abuse

Wouldn't that be a hoot! Someone as locally famous as her looking to poor white trash like me for a handout. That would be true victory for all "liberals" thoughout this strange country. Rush Limbaugh himself would surely come looking for me! I'm thinking she'd rather get more attention from her continued whining than she would like anyone to "bail her out".report abuse

30 years ago as 19 year old piece of poor white trash living in a poverty state (Maine), a "conservative" friend of mine told me that when I got a real job and started making real money then I'd come to understand his "conservative" thinking (He was from a "better off" family). Now I'm upper middle class, still living in a poverty state (Maine) and still think it strange that folks with the most money are the most angry about having to pay taxes. Yes taxes suck...but really, I'm getting hit harder than most folks and I'm doing just fine and feel fortunate that I have been so blessed to be in this position. Yep,that same friend is now unemployed, on welfare, and still yapping about "liberals" and folks living off the system. YES,no joke! These are the same people behind Tabor. Please someone, give these folks a reality check! That "unfortunate" lady who keeps this thing going year after year should just send me her frackin tax bill, I'd pay it just to make her go away!report abuse
