I have no objection to the toplessness (is that a word) at this business. My girlfriend and I plan to make a visit sometime soon and check it out. However, it does concern me a bit that the owner does not pay his employees any wage at all. That seems very unethical to me. Now, due to the nature of the business, employees may be fortunate to receive large tips on a fairly regular basis. But isn't it unfair to have to DEPEND on that for your whole income? I think wait staff at ANY business should be paid a living wage and that tipping is an outdated concept. I'd be interested in knowing how the employees at this coffee shop feel about it, though.report abuse

Lwalton3 [and others i'm sure], How can you say a woman would choose this for her employment based upon (lower)intelligence?
I work at the coffee shop. And I'll tell you a little something about ME.
I am a published/awarded writer, a classically trained musician, and a studio artist. I too am engaged, and I am continuing school in the fall semester.
I am a true feminist. [not the type that wants the perks of being a man.. oh no...] the type that has great knowledge of the power of being a woman, the benefits of being such an amazing facet to the eye and imagination, and I am not afraid to use that.

Guess I'd consider myself to be a pretty smart cookie.

The other women I work with are amazing, bright, feminine women that are proud of who they are, and recognize their bodies as being absolutely gorgeous. Every woman is in her own way, flawless. EMBRACE THAT!
After all we have been through, ladies, should we still feel we have something to hide? Is there really any difference between the man next door sitting on his lawn, topless, and myself and my fellow waitresses serving coffee in the same manner?
Or does the fuming over my position stem a little deeper? Maybe it raises up a few insecurities?
I'm throwing things out there. I really want to know what the big controversy is.
i love my job. I love the power and freedom it gives me.
But all the controversy really makes me wonder why still, the human form, the way it was brought into this world, puts a frightened stranglehold on us. And this, ladies, is just about our tops being off... we really have a long way to go if this is such a substantial issue, with all the bigger things in the world, and our country alone, that we should be concerned with.
I'm going to work in the morning, and you better bet I'm going to feel liberated, and very proud of myself. :]

I want to know what your real issues are, and the REASONS behind them.
No puns, wisecracks, insults...
REAL reasons for objection. PLZ?report abuse

If the people in your community keep giving you grief come on up to Canada--Topless is legal here. As a modern society we have come to realize as our European cousins have for a very long time(Open a British newspaper The Sun--Page 3 has a topless model everyday. Topless is not harmful and also that men and women should be treated equally--Breasts are not sex objectsreport abuse
