I can't tell you all how much I appreciate all of your comments. I have looked into everything that everyone has commented about.

Since this article has appeared, we have had an unbelievable response from the whole state of Maine along with other states; Massachusetts, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. I don't know how the other states have heard about Caleb's plight, but I want to thank everyone for their contributions, well wishes and their prayers!

Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

A very heartfelt thank you to everyone!

Angie, I agree with you, they shouldn't have to divert their energy to fund-raising, but that is their reality right now. Emoting about how awful it is doesn't change the situation. Action and ideas will. That is why I suggested an email campaign to drug companies and a call to the Maine Principals Assn. They family or a friend could draft flyers promoting "give $1 to help Caleb live" and ask each Principal to collect $1 from each student, talk about it during morning announcements, ect. It would raise a ton of $$ quickly. Whining and concern are understandable, but they don't change the situation.report abuse

Susan, that's just it, I don't care who pays for it. If there's 1 percent chance it will help than I believe go for it. I believe with all the pain and heartache that they shouldn't have to worry and have to raise this money. I'm sorry for my huge passion on this story. I write this with huge tears and I feel strongly that he should have the experimental treatment at whatever expense. Use the stimulus money, rainy day fund, take the $3 presidental donation that you pay on your federal taxes. I don't care where it comes from but 1 percent is better than none.report abuse
