I've said my piece before, but again this dispatch center is being poorly run and dumping more money and dispatchers into it is not going to fix it. They went out and bought huge computerized systems, ergonomic controlled workstations that raise and lower at the push of a switch, giant flat screen displays for the walls that show how many calls they are mishandling (or for watching the next episode of lost). But all this money didn't teach them how to be dispatchers. During a recent call the fire chief had to contact the dispatch center three times to get them to tone out the fire delaying the fire departments response by seven and half minutes. While that may not seem like much, its enough to destroy a house and cost lives. Something really should be done about this and soon, and throwing more money at it is not the answer.report abuse

It isn't just that they need more people they need to change the layout and the way they dispatch.report abuse

ahhhh once again we have our arm chair quarterbacks that think they know all the answers. it does not matter who gets the towns, if they dont have the staff it will have issues. dump the towns onto augusta or waterville and when they cant afford to pay for more dispatchers they will be the ones in the paper and wont we hear more crying then.report abuse
