Where are the families of those on the "need" list? What happened to helping your neighbor and friends? I understand that professional services are needed for those with special needs. But certainly taking an hour or two out of a weekend or cooking a little extra to share with the elderly isn't a burden. Perhaps those that are able bodied and receiving assistance could pitch in to help as well. Identify someone in your neighborhood that could use you help and step up to the plate,or deliver a plate.report abuse

Broadening programs is not likely or wise. Anybody who asks for more money should be cut first.report abuse

Here is an idea. How about taking money from those on welfare who are able bodied young and should be working anyway. Put that money toward the elderly. Problem solved with no new taxes.report abuse
