Susan Gendron advising Obama about education is as scary as putting a gold fish in charge of a school of piranhas! She is little more than Baldy’s puppet. If Obama really wants her as an educational advisor, I am sorry I voted for him. I have been a teacher for thirty-five years, and I cannot think of one positive thing Susan Gendron has done for education in the State of Maine. She has cost this State millions, and I do mean millions of tax dollars by promoting the ridulous Maine Learning Results, (is anybody actually using this now?), by promoting the SAT Assessment Test (this is not an assessment test, it is a high level college entrance exam, not a real assessment test – in fact, Maine is the ONLY state dumb enough to use this costly test – and it should not be used as an assessment test because it only tests reading and writing – she threw out the real assessment test, the MEA’s that we had spent millions perfecting by teachers, administrators, and parents that assessed every subject like history, health, art, etc. and not just reading and writing like the SAT), and now she is promoting consolidation (but, thank God, informed tax payers from this State are finally beginning to “smell fish” with this whole concept. I know Baldy wants to get rid of superintendents, which may work in some situations; but many superintendents (and you know who they are) work around the clock to do all they can for their schools and their communities. Our tax dollars might be better spent if we got rid of Baldy’s personal advisors, who are making in excess of one hundred thousand dollars! What is the answer – the answer was stated by someone on an earlier post who suggested that a petition needs to be started and sent to Obama signed by citizens, teachers, parents of special needs’ students, tax payers, and others saying we do not want her advising anything to do with education in Washington because she has performed her duties so badly in our beloved State of Maine!report abuse
