well lets all jump on BLAME the teachers union bandwagon !!! How about lets look at what princaples and superintendents are making and how much time they actually are spending doing the job I know some of themare part time and make more than most regular people do working 60 hours a week !!Im also sure there is dead weight in the union and these teachers should not be protected, another area cuts could be made are sports and extra curricular activities ! but noone will go there !!! lets face it my spellling isnt great but you get the picture !!report abuse

I wonder how many other districts besides Augusta pre bought fuel for their schools and city ofices. Sounds like Farmingdale did the right thing by not falling for "lock in scam" that oil companies worked so hard last May and June to scare people into. This isnt to say that prices wont again rise throughout the winter.

I really like what "the voice" said about cuttng non productive teachers. We all know who they are. Having worked in the Augusta School System for 20 years and also being a student in Augusta schools many years ago, it gives me the shivers thinking of the all the students who have to endure the likes of these less than productive teachers. When we institued "No Child Left Behind, it is clear we can not accomplish that mandate with the cuts and the economy we face. Augusta has carried a Supt who is just drowning Augusta schools. Folks it is time to make your concerns known. It is time to recognize the great teachers we have and to start a fair process of evaluation to get rid of the dead weight teachers who have let our students down for years.report abuse

What a marvelous concept "thevoice" has.
Lots fat at the top of many schools could be trimmed. Most "supers" earn at least 6 figures. GOOD teachers deserve the pay others seem to get.report abuse

Windsor is expected to receive over $30,000 less than what was planned. But, the story gets even better. Voters here and in seven other towns recently approved joining an RSU. That will happen in July 2009, the same time this budget year closes. If Windsor does not "save" the amount of the shortfall as well as eliminate other deficits at the time the fiscal year closes and Union 133 goes out of business, the taxpayers of the town will have to come up with the difference. Time to cinch up the belt!report abuse
