Charity. I did not suggest that we do not provide local support. Operation Christmas Child is just one of many ministries that we support both locally and internationally. Grace Community Chapel also supports a local food bank. We attempt to support both the physical and spiritual needs of some of those in our community whether or not they attend our church. This is an outreach of ours that is growing. We have recently provided some financial support for a family whose home was destroyed by fire. And more. Visit us at GCChapel.com . God Bless.report abuse

I agree whole-heartedly with 'mystery' of Waterville. I too would love nothing more than to open my heart, home and wallet to needy children everywhere. What we fail to keep in mind is that our home, America, is facing another great economic crisis. We are in this crisis for a number of reasons, one of which is our country's seemingly deep pockets to the needy overseas. I feel your efforts, albeit admirable, would be better spent catering to the needy in our own country. Please keep this in mind for your next fundraising endeavors.report abuse

Mystery:

I am a Deacon at Grace Community Chapel which is serving as the relay station for Operation Christmas Child. Email me at TheDeacon@GCChapel.com and I will see that your two orphans get a box of goodies. Merry Christmas.report abuse

Charity begins at-home. I'm a single senior with 2 orphans, living on social security. I adopted them 15 years ago and they've never received a box of goodies from anyone. I have rich friends who travel all over the world, living in new homes, donating to children in Nepal, Kenya, etc. It would never occur to them that my two orphans might need help and would appreciate being acknowledged in this life. My own relatives donate to unknown/unwed mothers etc..Yet, never give my orphans anything. If it weren't for the kindness of strangers, we'd have no recognition, at all. Not every kid in America is spoiled. Many in our own backyard have little to nothing. Nobody seems to notice. You don't have to go to a foreign country to find needy children. Open your eyes, your heart, and your pocketbook!report abuse
