I see that the Animal Welfare Institute and the Wildlife Alliance of Maine are using the new American way to make laws. Ask a Judge or the feds. What happen to going to the Maine legislature or contact your representatives like the rest of us. I guess if you have money you can buy your laws.

Why bring in the feds. What happen to the right to local government?

neo11 you make a good point. Douglas W. needs to open his little Dictionary and look up illiterate.

Where do these guys get their funding from? It needs to be examined to make sure their spending it within their scope of authority.

Why don't we just outlaw rabbit hunting so the lynx population will grow.report abuse

Does anyone know how many people still actively trap in this state? I can tell you that it is not many, a mere fraction compared to the number of people who hunt with firearms. The real concern people should be voicing is not over the small possibility a Lynx may be caught in a trap, but the real menace of poaching. How do we curb poaching? Put more Wardens in the woods. I do not see this happening with the current govermental administration, which is a real tragedy. Enforcement of conservation laws is always going be key to this issue, unless we get the boys in green in the woods more, might as well save your breath.report abuse

Actually, Mr. Watts, I have worked on some Canadian Lynx projects and feel quite qualified to have an opinion, even if you do feel that I am "illiterate".

Your idiotic suggestion of my stance on bald eagles does not answer my main point. Perhaps if you feel that my information is wrong, you could explain why, rather than simply insulting me with no actual facts.report abuse

"Are we going to get suit upon suit until trapping is made illegal in the state of Maine? Is that your goal?" Woodcock asked.

Brawer responded: "No, your honor, the goal here is to get the state compliant with the Endangered Species Act."

The biggest lie in the whole article. The #1 goal of these groups is to outlaw all of trapping, then hunting, and so on. Anyone remember the bear referendum in 2004? The same groups were involved in stopping all bear hunting....report abuse
