From 2002 to 2006, the republicans in the US House & Senate had a sizable lead and could have done something about offshore drilling, but instead, decided to haul Terry Schiavo's body to the floor for debate instead. Then from 2006 to the present day, the House Democrats have had a sizable lead and have been able to get bills passed, but unfortunately, most of the bills die in the Senate thanks to Sen. Susan Collins' best buddy, Joe Lieberman, who continues to for in favor of the War Party's policies. See?
Ask Sen. Susan Collins right now if she's holding up any bank regulation bills by John McCain in her Committee. I suppose holding it up one could say, "The Democrats don't want to regulate the banks!".
