It is disappointing, but not unexpected, that the Kennebec Journal has chosen to endorse Sharon Treat for Re-Election. As I pointed out in my meeting with the editorial board, the pattern of endorsements given by the KJ in this election cycle has almost entirely favored incumbents. For two years you have bemoaned the failures of the legislature and pointed out the mounting problems the state faces, yet you suggest that we simply return those who have created those problems or failed to deal with them effectively back to office for another bite at the apple. Quite simply, this makes no sense. It's a truism that doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is a classic sign of insanity. I feel it's time to stop the insanity at the state house: the out of control spending and taxation being the prime things that need to be taken care of. It's a shame the editorial board of the KJ does not agree. Hopefully the voters in district 79, with an opportunity to choose between a classic tax and spend liberal and a candidate committed to zero tax and spending increases will make a wiser choice.
