I'm glad to hear the event was civil. the Maine media dd give mixed messages about whether it was an open event or just for supporters. But come on folks, all republican events are for supporters only. It's much easier to stir up the hatred and fury. Those tactics are downright Hitleresque. McCain and Palin need to immediately stomp on any cries of "kill him" or "terrorist" coming from their events, and guess what? They're not.report abuse

Sarah Palin is not qualified to take the seat of the president if McCain, already suffering from cancer, should pass. She is simply unqualified to make the types of decisions, and to lead the largest military on the planet in the event she is called to do so. In these times, she is the last thing this country needs.

Her answer to Katie Couric's economic question, how does the mortgage and credit crisis and bailout effect the economy, she rambled on about jobs, about this and about that... An economics professor from Princeton University said of her response, "well, I'm a professor who grades papers and her answer resembled a freshman student writing an essay and throwing out a bunch of economic sounding terms to try to sound intelligent to hide the fact they didn't know the answer. It was incoherent."

We can not suffer as a country with such incompetence. She might be a nice person, or maybe not, but she has no business in the seat of power as president should McCain not finish his term.report abuse

Even though a majority of Mainer's are for Obama I'm glad people were respectful of him. Quite a contrast to the inflammatory comments by his wife and the hate-speak of their followers. Perhaps she will learn when he tells her about his experience in Maine.

That said, I really hope the 2nd district goes for Obama. McCain in office following the Bush economic model of borrowing form future taxpayers, attacking and asking questions later would be awful, socializing the banking industry. If the job proves too much for him, we have a more serious problem. She is clueless, because Gov Palin showed no interest in national and international affairs before McCain called her. She has no background in economic, the military or history and therefore no basis to even think about issues.report abuse
