The slogan of the DOYON '08 Campaign is "For A Bright And Shining Future With Hope". These words are not just sugar-coated rhetoric, these words represent what every working Family in our District so desperately wants - myself included ! I am tired of living in despair, as we have for the last eight years - with every year that rolls by more difficult then the last. As a citizen I do not demand instant solutions from our leaders, all I want right now is HOPE that they can be found. HOPE that our best and brightest will step forward to serve and present new and creative ways to make life better for not only our children, but for US right now.
My opponents Campaign slogan is "Leadership You Can Trust". First let me say that Rep. Cotta has served our District honorably. And on behalf of myself, my Family - and all the voters of District 55 I thank him for his service. But trustworthiness is only half of what is required of a leader. That leadership must also be EFFECTIVE. Rep. Cotta did not get a single piece of legislation to a floor vote.
Rep. Cotta is proud of his attendance record, but there is more to being a State Representative then pressing the Yay or Nay button twenty-one hundred times. And since Rep. Cotta sits in opposition to the majority, he actually voted against some of the better solutions presented to the Legislature the last time around.
I am an intelligent and creative person. I have specific ideas on how some these tough problems can be tackled. I am already hard at work with the Leadership in the House of Representatives to forge the connections and alliances that I will need to move my agenda, the PEOPLES agenda - forward. I will add "EFFECTIVE" to the word "TRUSTED" and give District 55 Leadership THEY CAN ACTUALLY BELIEVE IN.
