Hi concerned person of Mid maine. Yes and also Madison and Carrabec High school offer both VHS, and Carrabec also offers Academe (with college credit through orono), AP for All (through ATM with credit from USM), College dual enrollment courses (with college credit from KVCC) and AP courses with college credit when students score high enough on the tests. Between these options about a third of our students will complete college courses before High School graduation. The Mitchell institute last spring sent us a letter of commendation for doubling the rate of students going on to post secondary education. Oh yes and while these have been developed the High School has reduced the area of the budget we have control over. Of course while the above are all verifiable facts as the High School Principal I may be a little biased in my pride in these accomplishments.report abuse

All of school should be virtual. Think of the cost savings of building overhead, heating bills, buses, food and teacher commuting. We could cut property taxes by 75%.report abuse

This is great for the kids.
The article implied that these five schools are the only local schools to consider programs like this. Isn't Maranacook considered a local school and haven't they offerred Virtual High School for several years?report abuse
