As far as the Airport bringing in new airlines. The Augusta airport has been a joke for years.
We stopped flying out of Augusta because they were not dependable and it never made us feel good to have the same person sell you your ticket if they didnt take a phone call and fill the plane before waiting on you, then have the person be the baggage handler and check in person, then go out and direct the plane and who knows, that person probably piloted the plane when we were not looking.
I'll stick with Concord who I know is dependable and reliable and travels in the rain and snow.report abuse
Having this new service here will be great for all the people that travel down to Portland to ride the bus. There are quite a few that do this and it will be wonderful to park near home and save on gas.
Everyone that has commented talks about going south, but don't forget Bangor. I was just up to their station in Bangor and they have enlarged the waiting area and redone the whole building. How about going up for the slots? It is quicker than Foxwoods.
As for the location of the station, it had nothing to do with the city fathers. Concord Coach places all their bus stations near the edge of town. It means that they can expand when needed. The station in Portland was quite small in the early days and just look at it now. How can you do this if you are trapped in a downtown location. The owner of the company likes his stations to look nice with plenty of parking. How can you do that downtown?
The win or fail of this new bus station depends on all of us. They built it, now lets use it. Go check them out. Give them a try and go for a ride.report abuse
