Aaron...quit drinking the kool-aid. You ask Italians why despite the fact they have universal health care they voluntarily choose to purchase policy's to the tune of 12k per year if they can afford it. You ask Claude Castonguay, the father of socialized medicine in Canada why he says the the system is a costly failure and needs to be privatized, then go figure out why the survival rates for breast and prostate cancer in the UK bite compared to the US. Don't even bring up the subject of survival or live births. The US counts every child who is born in the US regardless if they die within minutes after birth...most nations to include Norway, Sweden, Finland don not consider a birth live in their recordings unless the infant leaves the hospital and I can assure you they don't spend to much trying to save those that will be a burden on the system. Read Hillary's original plan. there is a little ditty in there about QUALEES which refers to quality of adjusted life years...in a nut shell, you will be kept comfortable until your demise if you are a burden on the system...no investment will be made for you.

If you fail to realize the relationship between health care coverage and health care costs I will help you.

NO HEALTH CARE = HIGHER COSTS therefore MORE with HEALTH CARE = LOWER COSTS. But if you want your tax's lowered then pay 300x more with your Premiums. Educate yourselves.report abuse

The statement "The rate of uninsured has dropped from the highest in New England to the second-lowest since the inception of Dirigo." is just plain blatantly false, and I suggest the writer go find the research to back that up. This same quote was used about a year ago in another KJ article... At that time I looked at the SAME report the gentlemen was referring to, and if you went back a couple of years BEFORE Dirigo, you'll find that the percentage of uninsured in Maine was The SAME!report abuse
