This is a great move for Maine General. It took a little longer than it should have, but in the end they clearly made the right choice.report abuse

Hey everyone... Look at the bright side.. Delta Ambulance is gonna make a ton of money at $100 a mile to transport. For us waterville residents who would aquire maybe a $150-$200 ride, it will now cost, lets see, that will be roughly a 25 mile ride..... wow!!! Delta will rake in a cool $2500 per trip.. ya just gotta love paying that bill...report abuse

There needs to be an emergency room on the East Side to cover all the east side of Augusta, Chelsea, southern Vassalboro, Farmingdale, Pittson, Windsor, Whitefield, Somerville, Randolph, etc. There are a lot of people on the east side of the Kennebec River. Moving the one and only emergency room to north Augusta by the interstate adds 15-20 minutes (10 minutes at high ambulance speeds) to getting to the emergency room if it's in north Augusta. Those 10-20 minutes could be the cause of someone's death.report abuse

So once again after preaching how the Council is going to save the Augusta downtown here is another nail in the coffin. How is moving all shopping, services and employers to the outskirts of the city supposed to save it? Get ready for more tattoo parlours and head-shops on Water Street.report abuse
