Would Mr. Manzer have offered a $60,000 credit if the price of asphalt had fallen as drastically as it rose? HMMMM!report abuse

I would imagine that all towns, if not the contractors themselves, will be including escalator clauses for liquid asphalt in the future. This however does not protect the private homeowner unless they are up to date on asphalt prices. How about a guaranteed price within X number of days-then resign or renegotiate after that. Everyone has the same risk then. Belgrades solution was much more equitable to both parties compared to the Chelsea fiasco a couple of weeks ago. Here, common sense prevailed.report abuse

I agree with Jack of Gardiner. A contract is a contract. End of story. Manzer is a whiner anyway. He quoted me a price on doing a residential driveway that was ridiculously high. I got a second quote that was over 25% cheaper than Manzer. He happened to be in town while my driveway was being done & had to nerve to stop & ask me why I went with someone else. Hello Bruce, your price quotes are unreal!! Someone else I know saved over $5000 getting their driveway done by someone else. So the point I am trying to make is, of course he can be low bidder on town projects...he just makes up the difference ripping off the people of that town by charging them A LOT more to have their personal driveways done. He is a whiner & a rip off.report abuse
