Congratulations. UMA has come a long way from the early days/decades of it associates degree (ADN), efforts in the late Seventies to slow scan coursework to Aroostook County so that LPNs there could get an associates' degree...and to improve scores and quality nurses over the past three or more decades. Keep up the good work in Nurse Educaiton, UMA. Thanks for this article Matt. Don Beattie in Winthrop, ME.report abuse

There are many very professional nurses out there that do outstanding jobs and they should be thanked frequently and financially. There are others who need to be taught to wear their hair up or short, cut their nails, get rid of the nail polish, lose the perfume and makeup, quit chewing gum and leave the jewelry at home. Nursing is not a popularity contest or a beauty display..show some respect for the profession and yourself. The hospitals have also become very lax in policing these time honored rules as well.
It is the responsibility of the nursing school to see these habits are instilled into the new students and it is up to the students to follow these habits after graduation..believe me, your patients will thank you.report abuse
