“MOST of the John Does say they've lived lives free of sex offense CONVICTIONS for the past 16 to 26 years, and ask why they're now viewed as threats to society.”
.
MOST?? MOST doesn't relieve my concerns at all.
.
"free of sex offense CONVICTIONS?"
.
Why does it not say: Free of sexual offenses, PERIOD? Just because a sex offender hasn't been convicted doesn't mean he isn't still offending.
The sex offenders I have known, were committing sex offenses for years - with NO ONE KNOWING, EXCEPT THE VICTIMS. Once they are released the recidivism rate is extremely high. Too high for safety.

One man wrote: "I feel violence against my person if my name is placed on the sex offender registry"... (Need I add anything?) "He also said the registration could affect his family's plans to adopt a baby." (Recidivism, anyone.)
PLUS:
"Probate Court (which handles adoptions) will have my FULL CRIMINAL RECORD whether or not I am a registered sex offender, but we fear that my APPEARANCE on the registry will cause us to lose the opportunity to adopt," he said.
.
"FULL CRIMINAL RECORD??" What else is there? One criminal offense is too many. AND... He's worried about the "APPEARANCE"? Why not his victims? DON'T LET HIM ADOPT!!!report abuse
Sexual offenses always entail gross other drama, like people getting kidnapped, beat up, threatened or killed or locked up so they don't "tell." FOR WHAT??
H0W DARE YOU TAKE IT LIGHTLY!!!!!!report abuse
I AGREE!
Kevin James of Farmingdale, ME:
Asking me why I would use that statement/figure of speech makes me wonder why you would comment on that & not the article/issue itself.
Were you once ordered to drop the skittles & step away from the sandbox?
That's what you're leaving people to consider.report abuse
