We have had a pellet stove for 4 years. It is in our otherwise unheated living room. We do have oil heat as backup in then other rooms, but keep the thermostat stead at 60. We use a small fanto blow heat to the rest of the house, so we do heat the whole house with the pellet stove. Right now we a trying to find pellets as most dealers are way behind.report abuse

Pellet stoves are great single room heat.Your not going to heat your whole house with them. You have one thing to burn, pellets. With a wood stove you can determine how much heat you want not only by stove controls but by btu manipulation. In the fall we burn low btu wood such as red maple, birch and ash.Winter time we burn oak, sugar maple and black locust. You cant do that with a pellet stove. When its on its on when its off its off.An all around bad investment.report abuse
