Meanwhile those forced to give money to MSEA can't even vote on the contract they financed. One has to become a full member and have have their money used to support the unions political activities to vote on the contract.report abuse

Mr. Turek, we're all entitled to our opinions, but you're really pushing it. For all your presumptions about what the USA is founded upon, is respecting the views of others and informed debate not also an element of that, vs suggesting anyone that disagrees with you is "socialist and/or communist"? It discredits you to throw out comments like that, not to mention making you look a little silly by throwing in totally inappropriate terms for the sake of dramatic effect.

It does make sense that msea and seiu are involved in it...this, after all, affects unions. Are they not a large union? The press herald's coverage made it clear that business interests are running the anti-efca campaign...What's so unamerican about them taking a side on it as well?

Aside from all that...in the times of the founding of america and even prior to that, were there not unions and guilds? Does this not make THEM a part of what america was built on?

Note..Not the only thing. There IS room for both sides on issues. I just part ways with your view that anyone that disagrees with you needs to shut up and/or leave.report abuse

anticon, the local chapter of SEIU is MSEA. If you saw either their website or the news last night, you would recognize that they are indeed deep in this battle to support forced unionism and other anti-American elements. If you want to support these socialist and/or communist actions, feel free to do so in another country. The USA was not built around those ideals.report abuse

Oh yes...it's UNIONS that send jobs overseas. Not trade agreements that were written with and for the benefit of some of the very same companies that are funding the drive against this act.

I could script this whole thread...It's the fault of the unions, they had a purpose but their time has passed. it must be terrible, McGovern spoke against it. Tom Allen is trying to eliminate the secret ballot. It's like one long and convoluted joke, only the subject is the only one that doesn't realize it.

Would i be as dismissive of mcgovern if he spoke in favor? This is an empty question. If he was in favor, no one would've known. His editorial printed because he's a (formerly) significant democrat who was opposed to it, not because he's goerge mcgovern. Playing along though..if they did hypothetically print mcgovern's support of it, would i be as dismissive? Absolutely yes. He still would be an irrelevant player in this. As it is, he's just an irrelevant player being shilled by the anti-EFCA side because..well, because he's there and the most credible thing they've got.

Keep right on quoting McGovern, folks. If you're not aware of how stupid you look when you do it, who am i to dissuade you?

Mr. turek, not that i need to ask, but are YOU? My issue has been with the advertising and campaigning behind this ad, not with unions and whether or not they're good. Also, i don't really feel i need to answer any questions until you explain to me why you used the MSEA as an example of unions when they had no relevance to the article or editorials in the past week, as i've already asked you. again, is this about what's right, or about your personal soapbox?report abuse
