In June this summer the president of the New Hampshire Boaters Association, which opposed imposing boat speed limits on Winnipesaukee Lake, crashed her 37 foot speedboat killing one friend and injuring another. This story was not reported by the Kennebec Journal. Enough said.report abuse

Say the guy from MA was "under the weather" and operating his boat at night at a high rate of speed. Then look at the other people's boat. If the lights were not on, how in hell was the guy from MA suppose to see that boat?? I have traveled Long Lake many times over the years, both in day light and after dark. Some people just show no judgement whatsoever on the water. I say both parties are at fault and the deceased parties families are looking for more money than the boat insurance had. Pay them the $300,000.00 from the insurance and round up another $175,000.00 and get this case settled. I think the manslaughter charge really is a bit much, especially if the Maine boat was operating without it's lights, which last I knew was an illegal act.report abuse
