You neocons should note the lack of logic in this. All for one and one for themselves? As long as your greedy brains get what they want, the heck with anyone else? Christianity's now obsolete? Talk about wanting it both ways.report abuse

A measured response is required when the possible opponent is Russia, China or anyone else with a large trained army and nukes. It wouldn't help the Georgians having us get directly involved.

We have little leverage with the Russians and they know it. We also have little credibility telling them to stop attacking a neighboring country when they claim it is causing them serious problems. Reagan - Grenada, Bush41 - Panama. Then of course there is Bush43 and Iraq.

I agree the Russian response seems to be excessive to what we've been told the Georgians did. However, this can get worse for them and us in a hurry. Rice and Bush need to be careful, not stupid. So far, so good . . . this time.report abuse

The good professor is trying to have it both ways by criticizing the US for not intervening, but clearly stating "I don't necessarily think that the United States should send troops to Georgia."

Isn't that the problem with liberal national policy? They want to talk tough and tell everyone exactly how mad they are, but won't do a darn thing to really help!

Anyone remember Somolia? Darfur? How about the genocide in Rwanda?

Of course the Professor is a professor of sociology, not history, but he had to get in his shots against the US to satisfy his other Hate America first crowd.

No need for objectivity or even mention that Russia has nuclear weapons, he did mention WMDs, but a better descriptor for the nuclear might of the new Russian empire is "apocolyptic" not just WMDs.

Now they want to help the allies in Iran control the flow of oil to the world, gee I wonder why?

If you want to avoid war nowadays, I think the best policy would be to have our own sources of oil and pusue alternatives like our economy and very lives depend on it, because they do.report abuse
