"Why does America hate Iran and want to attack us?"

Mr. Hooglund, I'm afraid the only rational answer to that question is, "Multinational corporations want your oil off of the market (It pops the price in West Texas) and want control of the Straits of Hormuz. American citizens believe whatever the corporate cokeheads on the TV tell them, and many of you will be dying soon. It isn't personal. Americans don't know the slightest thing about Persian culture, which they'd probably like. You see, with 500 channels of television on most people's sets, there's not one looking out at other cultures in the wide world. It's all focused inward, and it's mostly lies. The US is the new Rome, and the mob is at the circus screaming for blood.
If anything, you can laugh at the fact that the oil companies will be screwing Americans with the record oil prices while Washington hits them with the bills for 'rebuilding Iran'."

As far as whether this war is going to start before the Bush term is over, bet on it.
See here what Seymour Hersh had to say recently: http://thinkprogress.org/2008/07/31/cheney-proposal-for-iran-war/

PS. A blockade without a UN resolution is an act of war, by definition.report abuse

Expect no support from Russia, with over a hundred billion invested in Iran, they will supprt every move Iran makes, China, with a growing oil dependence increasing at 500,000 barrels a day, will not step on the toes of Iran. Once again, the U.S. alongside Israel will have no choice but to remove the threats of Iran by wiping out any facility that is in the development of producing material toward the development of nuclear weapons. The time to act is soon. Unfortunately as in any war, innocent civilians pay a heavy toll, this is the penalty paid for the suicidal tendencies of mankind in regards to solving our diffences.report abuse

Brunswick Chris;

Searching ships, containers etc. is the responsibility of the US Navy when it has been proven time and again that Iran (and others) have forwarded on weapons, explosives, 'consultants' and technicians to Iraq and Syria.

In regards to Irans involvement in Iraq specifically I'd recommend you talk to a surviving family member of a US service man or woman who has been killed my Iranian munitions and pass on your thoughts to them how unfairly and unjustly we are treating them.

Like the author of the commentary it appears like you to have no regard for lives of US soldiers and would favor a region dominated by Iran and free of the influence of Jews.report abuse

Wingnut: I hope Professor Hoogland and Peace Action Maine will continue to work to defeat Michael Michaud. Anyone who advocates starting a war with Iran, as Michaud has clearly done by co-sponsoring this House resolution, should not be representing District 2 voters.report abuse
